Poem: An Unexpected Premonition of Emotion Is Like a Big Wave
When midnight comes, my thoughts and feelings slowly become free,
In the silence, my heart turns into an invisible glass rabbit.
Why do I feel so calm and comfortable inside?
Like I'm being gently wrapped in the arms of an angel.
A basic question rises in my soul,
Like a drifting cloud in the stillness of time.
Since long ago, I’ve reflected on the time gap of happiness,
On the long, long path of my one and only life.
I feel more joy on Friday night than on Sunday evening,
As a subtle sadness creeps in while time passes.
I feel happiness just before eating the cake,
But sadness arises as I see it disappearing.
I feel a great joy just before I start dating her,
More than after we begin—this paradox leaves me a bit guilty toward her.
I feel deeper joy in the kindness of strangers than of friends,
Sudden warmth fills my heart as their figure slowly fades.
After all, perhaps the premonition of happiness is more delightful than happiness itself.
That thought passes through me as I sip espresso in the morning light.
Also, people often feel guilt more strongly before doing something wrong,
Than in the moment it’s actually done.
These mysterious sensations rise one after another,
Calling forth even deeper wonders within my heart.
The usual premonitions in the daily cycle,
Begin to collapse with an unexpected feeling.
Surely, that unexpected premonition that leaps over the mind's block,
Will shake the heart even more deeply than we imagined.
